‘Women Vocalise’ aims to encourage the women in the community to stand up and speak out for the rights they deserve, and to learn to embrace their identity.
The awareness of women rights and women education is one of the main issues that BEGIN is currently focusing on.
The problem of inequality in sex has been long existing in East Asian countries. Although Taiwan has been one of the prior in promoting women’s rights, the issue of gender inequality still requires a long way to go.
One of the best ways to promote women power in our ideas is to educate the young generation of both sexes to understand and respect the equality in all humans along with the inspiration for young women to jump out of the ‘common social restraints’ and actually live the life they would like to live. In Women Vocalise, through speeches delivered by feminism activists and female models in various fields provides the girls from the countryside to think of a future that truly belongs to themselves instead of their parents. Meanwhile, we as well provide an opportunity for the boys to think of the issue from a new perspective.
Through performance art such as Vagina Monologue and workshops, both genders would gain a mutual understanding to each others position on this issue and would also encourage the girls to speak up and stand out for their rights.
